Stages of Change #2 Contemplation-Well Maybe


Contemplation is the stage in which the contemplator begins to consider they need to change, and there is a possibility for needing to change. It is common that even though there is the thought, that change does need to happen, the contemplator will often justify not moving forward by telling themselves “one day, I will make a change, but not now.” During this stage of change the individual is on the fence and before one is able to move forward, the benefit for change will need to out weight the cost of staying the same. Towards the end of this stage there will be anticipation, excitement and anxiety. However, the benefits of moving forward is what motivates the individual to pursue preparation f0r change.
